The AAPG Annual Convention & Exhibition 2011 will take place in the heart of downtown Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Past Annual Convention & Exhibition events in Houston have set records for attendance, and this is sure to be a top AAPG event as well. The AAPG Annual Conference & Exhibition 2011 will feature a technical program of 400 oral presentations and 400 poster presentations.

The BMP will be present at the convention all four days. The BMP will at the “Greenland Day”, 12th of April, announce the Northeast Greenland Sea Licensing Area for the licensing round in 2012 and 2013.

‘Greenland Day’ at AAPG announces the Greenland Sea Licensing Round 2012 and 2013

ne_greenland_sea_areaThe Government of Greenland has approved that the next hydrocarbon licensing round will be carried out in the Greenland Sea in 2012 and 2013. The Licensing Round comprises a Pre-round and an Ordinary round of altogether 50,000 km2 chosen from the framed hatched area in the figure.

  • The application date for the Pre-round of 30,000 km2 is December 15th 2012.
  • The application date for the Ordinary round of app. 20,000 km2 is October 15th 2013.

The area of 50,000 km2 within the Gross Licensing Area will be revealed at the ‘Greenland Day’. The assessment of the petroleum potential of Northeast Greenland made by USGS suggests a large exploration potential on the Northeast Greenland shelf with mean estimates of equivalent 31 billion barrels of oil.
