Uulex No 2

In recent years there has been a strong interest from the industry for doing hydrocarbon exploration in Greenland. EXploration focus has mainly been offshore West Greenland with licensing rounds in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2010. The total licensed area covers more than 200,000 km2 divided among 20 licence blocks situated in the Baffin Bay, the Davis Strait and the Labrador Sea. New licensing rounds offshore Northeast Greenland are scheduled for in 2012 and 2013. In relation to the upcoming Northeast Greenland licensing rounds, data acquisition and geological and geophysical work are in progress in this region onshore as well as offshore. This summer, the exploration activities carried out in Greenland has covered a wide field from detailed 3D data acquisition surveys and site surveys carried out in relation to exploration drilling operations to regional 2D marine seismic surveys.

Uulex is a webbased newsletter, which will be published two to three times a year by the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum, Greenland Government at the website - www.bmp.gl.
